The Role

As their IT Delivery Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in overseeing the successful delivery of complex IT projects and services to their clients. You'll lead, mentor, and inspire a team of talented engineers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires a strong background in IT infrastructure and systems administration, combined with deep knowledge of Microsoft technologies and exceptional leadership and project management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 10 IT delivery engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and technical excellence.

    • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and support professional development.

    • Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects and support engagements.

  • Project Delivery & Oversight:

    • Take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of IT projects, ensuring they align with client requirements and company standards.

    • Oversee project planning, scheduling, execution, and closure, identifying and mitigating risks.

    • Ensure adherence to best practices, quality standards, and established methodologies.

    • Collaborate with sales and account management teams to scope new projects and provide technical input during the pre-sales phase.

  • Technical Excellence & Strategy:

    • Maintain a deep understanding of core IT infrastructure components and systems administration principles.

    • Possess strong technical expertise and hands-on experience with a broad range of Microsoft technologies, including but not limited to Azure, Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune), Windows Server, Active Directory, and associated security practices.

    • Drive continuous improvement in their delivery processes and methodologies.

    • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly within the Microsoft ecosystem and broader IT infrastructure landscape.

    • Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues, providing guidance and hands-on support when necessary.

  • Client & Stakeholder Management:

    • Act as a key point of contact for clients on project delivery matters, ensuring clear communication and managing expectations.

    • Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs and contributing to their long-term IT strategy.

What They're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role within an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.

  • Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience with a broad range of IT infrastructure components and systems administration, including:

    • Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, Networking, Security)

    • Microsoft 365 suite (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune)

    • Windows Server environments and Active Directory

    • Virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

    • Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Firewalls, VLANs)

    • Storage solutions (SAN/NAS)

    • Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering complex IT projects from initiation to completion.

  • Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.

  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and client-facing abilities.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach.

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+) are highly desirable.

  • Based in or willing to commute to their South Wales office. Full UK driving license may be required for client visits.
