Overview
We are partnering with a highly successful and expanding IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in West Sussex to recruit a driven and skilled 2nd Line IT Projects Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically proficient and highly organised individual to take ownership of diverse IT project delivery, ensuring our clients receive top-tier, efficient, and seamless service.
The Role: What You'll Be Doing (Project Ownership & Scope)
As the 'go-to' technical specialist on numerous projects, your primary objective is to guarantee the smooth, high-quality, and timely completion of Cloud IT, IT infrastructure, Network Security, installations and upgrades across the client base.
Key Responsibilities Include:
End-to-End Project Delivery:
Crucially, the Projects Team is responsible for the complete technical delivery of all new client onboarding.
Managing projects focused on adding to the existing IT portfolio of established customers.
Assisting with and taking ownership of installations and project implementation tasks from initiation to completion.
Scheduling projects into logical, timely steps while adhering strictly to budgets and set deadlines.
Ensuring a smooth handover of clients to the Helpdesk Support Team once projects are successfully deployed and signed off.
Operational Requirements:
Ensuring Risk Assessments are thoroughly completed before any on-site work commences.
Serving as a key point of contact for project-related communication via phone and email with clients.
Providing essential remote support for project tasks and maintenance using our RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management) system.
Field Work: Travelling to client sites, which are generally within a 1-hour commute of the West Sussex Head Office, to carry out installation and project-specific support work – facilitated by access to a company vehicle.
Proactively monitoring critical systems, including the status of backup systems.
Performing and recommending proactive maintenance to enhance client stability and performance.
Maintaining meticulous project documentation, notes, and paperwork, ensuring full accuracy.
Assisting the Projects Manager by providing timely updates on project progress and escalating potential issues immediately.
The Ideal Candidate: Your Skills & Experience
We are looking for a self-starting, professional with strong 2nd Line technical skills and proven project coordination capabilities.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
Technical Literacy: Excellent general IT and technical troubleshooting skills.
Project Mindset: Proven organisational and Project Management skills, with the ability to manage your own diverse workload autonomously.
Required Experience: This role is NOT suitable for a step up from an apprenticeship or for candidates with less than 2 years of experience in a 1st Line role within an IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
Desirable Qualifications (A Significant Advantage):
Qualification are not essential for this role but any of the following would be beneficial:
CompTIA: A+, Security+, Network+
Cisco: CCNA
Microsoft: MD-102 (Endpoint Administrator), AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), AZ-140 (Azure Virtual Desktop Specialist)
