Product experience: You will need previous b2b sales experience in selling phone systems (VoIP) / Connectivity / Business mobiles

The Opportunity

We are exclusively representing a highly dynamic, forward-thinking, and employee-owned Telecommunications company based in Hemel Hempstead. This highly collaborative organisation offers a comprehensive suite of services including internet connectivity, managed voice services, and mobile SIM solutions.

They are expanding their communications sales team and are seeking a motivated Business Development Manager to be a pivotal member of their growth strategy. Reporting directly to the Group Sales & Strategy Director, you will be fundamental in driving awareness, engagement, and adoption of their core telecoms service offering across the SME sector. The Role: Your Impact & Responsibilities

This is a full 360° sales role where you will manage the entire lifecycle, from discovery to close and account growth.

  • Support & Focus: Benefit from a dedicated internal telesales team to provide support and qualified sales leads, allowing you to focus on closing opportunities.

  • New Business Focus: Proactively self-generate and close new business opportunities across the entire suite of the company's telecommunication services.

  • Customer Engagement: Act as the commercial point of contact for all inbound and outbound opportunities, managing sales via video conferencing and site visits.

  • End-to-End Cycle: Lead the full sales cycle—from initial discovery and pitching through negotiation, close, handover, and future upsell/growth.

  • Cross-Collaboration: Work seamlessly with internal Provisioning, Orders, and Support teams to ensure market-leading project delivery.

  • Market Presence: Attend relevant industry events to represent the company and uncover high-value new business leads.

 

Key Activities

  • Leverage existing networks and industry relationships to generate interest and secure new meetings.

  • Fully explore any leads generated by marketing activities or qualified by the internal telesales team.

  • Deliver confident, tailored presentations and demonstrations of services and solutions.

  • Identify, qualify, and progress a robust pipeline across the full telecoms portfolio.

  • Maintain strong relationships post-sale to drive future upsell opportunities.

  • Provide clear, concise monthly reporting on sales funnel activity and successes using CRM.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is commercially sharp, highly proactive, and a superb relationship builder who thrives in an independent selling environment.

  • Essential Experience: Proven experience selling telecoms, managed services, and/or mobile solutions.

  • Market Knowledge: A strong understanding of the wider communications marketplace.

  • Sales Cycle Management: Comfortable independently managing sales cycles of varying lengths.

  • Technical Communication: An excellent communicator who knows when to engage internal technical experts for support.

  • Tool Competency: Proficient with CRM for lead management and monthly reporting, and strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • Location: Must be based within a commutable distance of the Hemel Hempstead office.
